Sit Back, Drink Some Tea And Read A Story During National Share A Story Month

Monday, May 2nd, 2011

Everyone loves a good story whether it is a bedtime, fairy tale, or scary story!

This is why the month May is dedicated to celebrating books and reading in National Share-A-Story Month.

Organised by the national charity Federation of Children’s Book Group, the month is designed to promote the power of story. It has a long history, starting out as a National Tell-A-Story Week in 1974 and being extended to the whole month in 1988.

Over the years events and activities have took place up and down the country including a national competition with fabulous prizes.

And 2011 is no exception with the special theme of “A Box of Delights” in which people create and share stories they find within boxes.

Get involved with the kids this May and every night gather around on the sofa, or sit in the sunny garden and read stories to each other; either from a book or made up!

We don’t know about you but nothing sounds better to us here at Ulster Weavers HQ than pouring a nice hot cup of tea into a pot, using some summery themed Tea Cosies to keep it warm, and sitting back and reading narratives and tales to the family.

We have some lovely flowery Cosies to choose from that will blend it perfectly with the garden when sat outside having family time.

Tea Song Titles

Friday, March 18th, 2011

Here at Ulster Weavers HQ we really do have that Friday feeling and are excited about the weekend, so much so that we randomly thought this morning; what song titles have the word Tea in?

Yes it is a bizarre and haphazard concept but once we started searching the internet we were pleasantly surprised to find many tune names existed.

Most artists concentrate on writing popular love songs to relate to their audiences, whereas a song about tea and Tea Cosies is a little bit harder to get a hit record out of!

Still there are many examples around, even if they are a little bit silly. And it isn’t just cute nursery rhymes that have tea mentioned but hard rock grunge groups like Nirvana.

So here are just a few of the many song titles around with the word Tea in them…

- I’m a Little Teapot (nursery rhyme)

- Tea for the Tillerman (Cat Stevens)

- Pennroyal Tea (Nirvana)

- Tea for Two (musical)

- Tea Party (Kerli)

- Tea & Sympathy (Jars of Clay, Janis Ian)

- When I Take My Sugar To Tea (Frank Sinatra)

- Tea in July (World Without Sundays)

- Have A Cuppa Tea (The Kinks)

- Coffee, Tea & Sympathy (Robbie Williams)

- Tea in the Sahara (The Police)

- Tea Leaf Dancers (Flying Lotus)

- Teo and Tea (Jean Michel Jarre)

There you have it Tea is just as popular subject as love, partying, country patriotism, friends or life.

Not quite sure how an artist can sing about Cosies but someone out there must be willing to give it a try!
