It is almost Easter time which means one thing; chocolate!

Her Majesty The Queen is nearing her real birthday!

The Queen of England actually has two birthdays to celebrate, simply because she is the Queen and can do. Her ‘real’ birthday is on 21^st April and is celebrated privately however her official birthday is on 12^th June.

The tradition of the two birthdays began with King Edward VII when he decided to create a second birthday for himself in June. And now the tradition has continued and Queen Elizabeth celebrates two birthdays every year.

The official birthday in June, which is rejoiced publicly, has a traditional 21-gun salute and the first cannon is fired at midday at Windsor Castle.

Queen Elizabeth’s official birthdays were on the second Thursday of June for the first seven years of her reign but it is now normally celebrated on Saturday.

The Oxford English Dictionary has made hundreds of new word entries for 2011 to update the book for the up and coming year.

Thousands of newbies have been submitted into the famous book’s latest edition ranging from full phrases, text speak and symbols.

Only the best get given the green light and one of the new entries is the word Domestic goddess- a woman likened to a goddess of the home.

Described as a woman with exceptional domestic skills, especially one who excels at cookery and preparing meals; the new word has been associated to the likes of celeb chef Nigella Lawson.

The 51 year-old has spiced up the OED with her coined phrase, which she wrote in one of her recipe books and now she is putting the brilliant word in the nation’s mouth.

A spokesman for Oxford University Press, said: “It is an unsurpassed guide to how the meanings of words change over time.

“This latest update of the dictionary provides more evidence of how our language is evolving.”

It has happened for multiple years across the globe but it doesn’t make it at all right; bag snatchers.

Gangs of people throughout regions are robbing elderly women of their beloved canvas shopping bags and the latest case in Wales reveals how disturbing the trend is and how harrowing the ordeal is for OAPS.

One of the victims, who was 84 years-old, had only just started going out again after recovering from a broken hip.

Gangs of canvas bags snatchers are preying on aged seniors when they are out of their home shopping. The criminals are stealing the handbags from the trolleys or off the shoulder and fleeing with all the contents inside.

But it seems the thieves are more calculating and some are pouncing on their victims after they have withdrawn large amounts of cash from ATM machines.

Police from varying locations are advising shoppers to be vigilant and not to leave pvc bags or purses unattended on their shopping trolleys.
